We’ve listened to all your feedback and wishes and have decided to make this year’s edition of SoCal better than ever! What can you expect if you join us in March? Here’s how our event has changed since 2023.
We are so excited to move to a new location and all the amazing places in close proximity to it. The Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport provides us with the space we need to accommodate our ever expanding championship and festival. The Hilton Irvine offers us many conveniences that will give you more to experience during your stay. We have expanded our event from 3 days to 4 days. Which means there will be 4 evening Milongas instead of our previous 3. We will also be holding 3 afternoon Milongas for the first time. More Milongas means more music! We are so happy to expand our lineup of DJs from 3 to 7. Yuliana has spent the past year traveling to events across Europe and the US and has curated some of her favorite DJs that are sure to keep the vibe going all day and night.

Holding our event at a hotel instead of a banquet hall also means more space. There will be 4 ballrooms available to us. The Crystal Ballroom will be the main room for workshops, championship and evening Milongas. The Catalina Ballroom, adjacent to the Crystal Ballroom will be for workshops during the day and later on a green room for competitors. The Monarch Ballroom will be for the afternoon Milongas and Thursday workshops. The Irvine ballroom will be for workshops only.

Another convenience we love about moving to a hotel is one of the most important things while attending a festival: Rest. One added day to the festival means a more relaxed schedule as workshops won’t start early as they have in previous years. Moving to a hotel also provides ability to go back to your room at any time to freshen up or take nap or even go to the jacuzzi or the heated pool for a swim. We hope these changes will create a more relaxing experience to a high energy event.

The competition has also expanded from 3 days to 4 days and we have included 2 new categories: Pro-Am Tango de Pista Amateur – 55+ and Tango De Pista Amateur. The qualifying rounds will be divided between Thursday and Friday instead of only Friday in previous years.
